I love this book and so does my four-year-old. Our copy is old and yellowed and Id love to find a new one. Hobo Dog realizes its the day before xmas and he doesnt have a tree so he sets out (on skiis) to get one. His friend the engineer gives him a train ride up the mountain to where the trees are where Hobo picks the perfect tree. He then gets a bit lost on the way back down, but ends up in a junk yard where he collects bits of junk - pairs of shoes, discarded tools, etc. to decorate his tree.
